Inspired by her experiences in the Canadian wilderness, Ms. Martin creates large-scale sculpture and drawing installations. Working with exceedingly delicate materials, Ms. Martin’s expansive wilderness panoramas are constructed from fragile, tissue-like layers of paper that have been colored with ink. Conjuring a genuine physical presence from simple materials, sinister owls watch over a landscape of delicate trees and boulders in her poetic work. (The Kala Art Institute, 2006)
